How Coders Who Travel Changed My Perspective

Let me just say this first…when I heard “Coders Who Travel”, I thought, Oh, they will teach me coding, and I’ll become a tech genius soon, traveling all around. But what Coders Who Travel actually does is way more serious and, honestly, way more useful. They focus on career building, networking, and real-world skills, not just some flimsy skills. And wow… it has been helping me in ways I did NOT expect.

Resume Writing: From “Maybe to Yes”

Before CWT, my resume was basically: Name,School, about, nothing extravagant to write home about. That’s it.

But now I actually understand:

  • How to structure a proper resume
  • How to highlight projects
  • How to make it look like I know what I’m doing

It’s no longer embarrassing to send it out. Growth.

Cover Letters: Writing Sounding Professional

Cover letters used to feel like: something boring something I won’t pick till I am grown enough to enter the job market.

But now?

  • I actually explain my skills properly
  • I connect my experience to the role
  • I sound confident (even if inside I’m panicking)

LinkedIn: The Land of “I’m Thrilled to Announce…”

CWT really opened my eyes to LinkedIn.

Before thought LinkedIn was for adults with serious accomplishments and suits and what will a teen like me still juggling life find there,,oh how I was wrong CWT opened my eyes to see that the little pieces I start fixing earlier will become a greater masterpiece someday.

Now:

  • I understand personal branding
  • I know how to present myself professionally
  • I’m connecting with people in tech

And yes… I have also made a profile worthy of appraisal. Character development is real.

Mind Maps: Turning My Brain Chaos Into Something Useful

Now with mind maps:

  • I plan projects properly
  • I break ideas into steps
  • I actually see what I’m doing

Always giving… organized intelligence. I also got to know it works as a great memorization tool for me.

Interviews: The Final Level

Interviews used to feel like a trap, right from vetting in junior levels They ask:

“Tell me about yourself."

“What are your strengths?”

And I always wonder, do I say the truth or the interview version??

But thanks to this experience:

  • I speak more confidently
  • I explain my projects clearly
  • I don’t freeze as much

Progress is progress.

What Makes CWT Different

What I’ve realized is that Coders Who Travel isn’t just about coding it’s about building careers and networks. They even focus on connecting people, training, and real-world exposure, especially in places like Ghana. So it’s not just learn codes done. It’s more like: learn skills, grow, build yourself and connect.Founded by Ms Afia Forfie with many wonderful facilitators like Dr Angela Azumah Alu, Nah-Abiah Al-Hassan and many others aiding.

Which is actually what people don’t tell you about tech and the world.

The Struggles

It hasn’t all been smooth:

  • Learning professional stuff is harder than it looks
  • Sometimes I feel like everyone else knows more than me
  • Meeting deadlines
  • LinkedIn pressure is real

But somehow… it worked and is working.

Final Thoughts

Joining Coders Who Travel has:

  • Improved my confidence
  • Helped me understand career skills
  • Made me take myself more seriously

And the funniest part?

I joined thinking I’d just learn coding…

But instead, I’m learning how to actually build a future.
