CWT is a training program designed to help students develop important professional skills for future opportunities. Through the program, I learned how to create a strong and active resume, practice interview techniques, create a LinkedIn profile, and write a professional cover letter. Each session provided practical guidance and valuable feedback that improved my confidence and understanding. Overall, CWT has been an eye-opening experience, teaching me how to present myself clearly, communicate effectively, and prepare for academic and career opportunities ahead.
When I started my CWT training, we began by creating a resume and adding important information such as skills, education, and awards. Our resume was reviewed, and she pointed out mistakes while giving helpful advice. I learned to remove abbreviations and resume clearly, use strong action verbs to describe accomplishments, and add dates to education to show a timeline. Applying these tips helped me to create a polished and effective resume that highlights my achievements and abilities clearly.
After working on our resumes, we moved on to learning interview skills, focusing on how to present ourselves confidently. We were taught to dress professionally, as appearance creates a strong first impression. We also learned to speak confidently and maintain good posture. Another important lesson was to answer questions fully while avoiding rambling, ensuring our responses are clear, concise, and focused. Practicing these skills made me feel more prepared for real interviews and gave me confidence.
During CWT, we also learned how to create effective PowerPoint presentations. We were taught to organize content clearly and present confidently. Practicing these skills helped me communicate my thoughts more effectively and made me feel prepared to deliver professional and engaging presentations in the future.
After learning about resumes and interviews, we focused on creating cover letters and building our LinkedIn profiles. We were taught how to introduce ourselves professionally, highlight our skills and achievements, and clearly show our interesting role or opportunity. We also learned the importance of a polite and concise closing, which leaves a strong impression on the reader.
We learned to use mind maps to organize ideas visually, making complex information easier to understand quickly.
Overall, CWT has been an eye-opening experience that taught me practical skills that I can use in real life, from improving my resume to mastering interviews, creating presentations and writing professional cover letters, I feel more confident and prepared for future academic and career opportunities.
