INTRODUCTION

When I first joined Coders Who Travel (CWT), I thought I was signing up for just another learning program. Little did I know, it would completely transform the way I approach my career and professional growth. While many people immediately associate CWT with coding, one of the most valuable aspects of the program is its career training sessions which I am about to complete. These sessions focus on preparing students for real-world careers, helping them develop both technical and professional skills that are essential for success in today’s competitive job market.

BUILDING A STRONG PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATION

From the very beginning, Miss Afia Owusu-Forfie emphasizes the importance of presenting yourself professionally. One of the first lessons I learned was how to craft a resume that truly reflects your capabilities and achievements. The trainers showed us how to highlight our strengths, showcase projects effectively, and make a strong first impression on potential employers.

By the end of the sessions, I felt confident that my resume could compete in the global job market. Another key aspect of career training at CWT is developing communication and soft skills. We were taught how to articulate our ideas clearly, explain complex concepts in simple terms, and present ourselves confidently in professional settings.

These lessons go far beyond what you learn in a classroom; they prepare you to interact effectively with colleagues, managers, and clients. Personally, this was a game-changer for me because it helped me recognize the importance of how I express my ideas, not just the ideas themselves.

LEARNING PROFESSIONAL ETIQUETTE AND TIME MANAGEMENT

Time Management and professional discipline are heavily emphasized by Miss Afia Owusu-Forfie, but in a way that feels supportive rather than punitive. For example, I must admit that I tend to submit my assignments later than expected—but the program frames this positively.

Miss Forfie encourage reflection and improvement rather than criticism, helping students like me identify why deadlines slip and how to manage tasks more efficiently in the future. Through this approach, I’ve learned that acknowledging your areas for improvement is just as important as celebrating your strengths.

Beyond time management, the sessions cover workplace etiquette, networking strategies, and personal branding. We explored how to make meaningful professional connections, write impactful emails with the countless times my team mates and i had to submit our works late , and present ourselves confidently in interviews.

Each session includes actionable tips that can be applied immediately, which I found incredibly practical. It’s not just about learning concepts it’s about applying them in ways that make a tangible difference in your career journey. Preparing for the Future One of the most striking aspects of CWT’s career training is its global perspective.

Even for someone who initially thought of career growth in local terms, this exposure broadened my horizons. I began thinking about my future in a more strategic way, considering not only what I can do today but also how to position myself for opportunities worldwide. Moreover, CWT encourages us to view challenges as learning opportunities.

By reflecting on feedback from trainers and peers, I realized that even my tendency to submit assignments late could be reframed positively: it’s a chance to analyze my workflow, improve my planning, and develop strategies that make me more effective.

Instead of seeing it as a flaw, I now see it as part of my growth journey—something that can be corrected with mindful effort. Personal Growth and Professional Confidence Above all, CWT’s career training sessions instill confidence. From networking to resume writing, from personal branding to professional communication, every lesson contributes to a stronger sense of self-assurance.

I feel better equipped to navigate the professional world, armed with skills that go far beyond coding or technical knowledge. In conclusion, while Coders Who Travel is often associated with coding, its career training sessions are equally transformative. I have been thought how to present myself professionally, communicate effectively, manage time, network and approach challenges strategically.

With Ms. Afia Owusu-Forfie , Mrs. Nah-Abiah A. and Doc. Angela Azumah Alu, PhD ’s dedication, I have been able to come this far and had a better way of presenting myself professionally .
